Miss you?

Not really. I adore what have become know as "Skiing Saturdays". Tom has been taking the girls up for ski lessons. (He is teaching a class or two and the girls are taking lessons...) Sam, Wes and I have the house to ourselves... Not that I don't absolutely love my girls, but the peace is priceless... It's been fun hanging out with Tom's brother Wes and just having a mostly empty house. I had however, forgotten how much more demanding an 18 month old is when she doesn't have three older sisters to entertain her...

Humility...

I was on the stair-climber at the gym. Puffing along, feeling good. When suddenly the chain broke or slipped off (or something) and the feet just dropped out from under me. Loud noise ensues as I crash to the floor, bashing my elbows on the handles, insuring that more people would look my way... Pain. Humiliation. Embarrassment. Laughter (mine and quite a few other people's...). The best part? I was wearing one of Tom's softball jerseys. The name of the team boldly printed in lime green on the front? OXEN.

Nice. Why couldn't they have been a lighter animal? Like the Ants? or the Gazelles? Anything but oxen...

Pets. Who needs 'em?

This is how all children eat fish crackers, right?

Quote of the Day -

Alix - "I am a Magnificent Princess and she (Sam) is a Baby Magnificent Princess!"
me - "Who am I?"
Alix - "Dad is the Magnificent King!"
me - "Awesome. Who am I?"
Alix - " You can be the Magnificent Maid!"

From the mouth of babes...

Oops...

Have you ever been leading the singing in primary and heard a little sound and then realized that you front closure bra has just popped open? It's kind of an awesome feeling... And fun to surreptitiously try and get it re-done up... With fifty kids staring at you... :)

Oh, and there is no picture because I have just realized that there are four pictures of me that have ever been taken... And I'm pretty sure they have all already been posted... Such is the trying life of the family photographer...

If All Else Fails... Just Dance!

We tried to go sledding yesterday up at Hyak on Snoqualmie Pass. Checked the weather. Checked the web sight. Yup. Open for sledding. Pay the park pass. Drive for an hour. Oops. They weren't really open for sledding... So our friends and us illegally (apparently snow is highly policed here in WA...) sled (slid? sledded? Who knows what the past tense for sledding is? Crashed?) on the side of a ski slope that was closed because the lift got destroyed in an avalanche. The ranger guys let us slide for about half an hour before they kicked us out. Which was nice of them. At least all the kids got in a slide or two...

Alix and Sam (who was so fatly dressed up that she could barely stand so she fell face-first in the parking lot, in a huge puddle of slush, which is why her hair is all wet...)
Brooke's finest crash landing
Erin had the champion run of the day. That girl can slide forever...
So, if all else fails and you can't sled as planned, what should you do? Dance! Of course. We have discovered the GREATEST new game for Wii. It's called "Just Dance" and you follow the little dancer person on screen. It's hysterical. We played it at our New Year's Eve party and we all came back to our house and played some more after the non-sledding event. It was great. By the way, don't ever tell Tom that this video found it's way here...
