Pumpkin love...

Bear with me for the next few days as I post a bunch of Fall/Halloween posts. I LOVE this time of year. It's fun. Pure fun. And it always starts with a trip to the pumpkin patch...

This year we tried Spooner Farms. Fun. But...
We went back to good ol' Shultz Farm. It's a little ghetto, but a lot more free! And I love taking the same pictures year after year and watching the girls change. And Tom lose more hair... :)
All the Bishop boys.
These giant hula hoops are awesome! Even I can do it! (and that's saying something!)
Sam and Alix hitching a ride.
Alix spotted this pumpkin right away and wouldn't be swayed to pick a (smaller) different one.

Sam
Brooke trying to convince me that she really doesn't have to lift it in order to buy it...
This is what 138 pounds of pumpkin looks like. A new record for us...

Quote of the Day

I put Sam down for the night, and had just finished reading to the other girls when I heard this...
Sam - "Mom, I need you! I need you, Mom!"
I walk into the dark room. She's laying there all snuggled up.
me - "What do you need me for sweetie?"
Sam - Big siiiiigh.... "I need candy..."
Nice try Small Fry. Now go to sleep...
(the picture is of Sam waiting for the twins to get off the bus)

The little girl who cried...

You might be familiar with the story of the boy who cried wolf. This is the story of a little girl who cries. Period. All the time. Dissolves into tears at the slightest of bumps or bruised feelings. Let's call said little girl by the name of Erin... When Erin came in from jumping on the trampoline sobbing, her (super, sensitive & caring) mother wasn't too worried. Quick hug, quick pat, "Go play sweetie. Love you!" Well. Two hours later Erin's (super observant) mom noticed this...
That is quite the nice lump! Guess she really was hurt this time... Woops. She'd lost her balance while jumping and then caught someone's bounce and flew, eye first, into Brooke's knee. (And I don't remember what we had for dinner that night, but it must have been delicious...)

The next night, her eye looked like this...
And a few days later a nice shade of green was added...
And today at the pumpkin patch, she's hardly bruised at all...
So the moral of this story is... Apparently sometimes when they're crying, they really mean it. In my defense, she did just run back outside and keep jumping...

Quote of the Day...

Some lady in the store - "Oh, twins! How sweet. You must just love being twins!!"

Erin - "Not really, so much."
lady - "Really? Why?"
Alix - "Because we have to share underwear!"
Huh. Guess I could get them their own stash of panties... Never really thought of it before...

The Golden Years...

are apparently closer than I thought. I took cookies to a new couple that moved into our ward, introduced myself and invited her to come over and scrapbook with me and a couple of friends. Turns out she's 22. When I joked about her being young and hanging out with my friends and I, she said..."It's all right. I'm used to hanging out with older people."
Older people? Older people. When did that happen?
I hardly feel older than I did in this picture... But the hot clothes do tell their own tale...

Quote of the Day...

me - "Brooke, really great job today getting your homework and piano done without me having to ask you a bunch of times."
Brooke - "Mostly I just did it so I wouldn't have to help clean up!"
Fair enough. I'll take what I can get...
